Wetlands

Today I went to with Ashley and her class on a field trip to the wetlands. It is a Whatcom County park called Hovander Homestead. There was a petting zoo, a big red barn, and a historic farm house that we toured around and then we had lunch. After lunch we went over to the Tennent Lake Interpretive Center and the Fragrance Garden. Then we headed on an elevated boardwalk through the swamp and marshes to look at plants and signs of animals. We saw some birds and some scat. Then we went to an area where the kids got to catch little bugs in the pond. They had a blast. It was a fun field trip even if I had to spend an hour each way in a school bus 9 months pregnant.
